Item catalogs in Oracle

Hi,

We want to implement item catalogs in Oracle to solve the problem with duplicate items being created. We want Item catalogs to help the users to search for an item by filling out a catalog attributes. I setup a catalog group and added descriptive elements under it. I have few challenges by assigning item catalog that way:

  • descriptive elements are free text fields and cannot be assigned an LOV. There are high chances that users might not enter in the correct format and there will be data quality issues because of that
  • item catalogs are of hierarchy structure and this cannot be setup with item catalog group
