How to move a ldom from one pool to another pool? Can it be online or the ldom has to be down?

I found the zfs send/receive and zfs migrate documents, but they really seem to be error prone. Does anyone have a better written procedure to move ldoms from rpool to a new existing pool? Do the Ldoms need to be down (I think it would be better)?
