NBV Depreciation Method

Implementing Fixed Assets for a company that uses NBV method to depreciate.   I want to use Straight-Line depreciation monthly but base it on NBV not Cost.  What is the best option to accomplish this?  I see that Calculated cannot be used with NBV in the Depreciation methods.

Do I create a formula based NBV depreciation method?  If so what would the formula look like?

Do I use STL in combination with Amortize Adjustments?  If so how can I default that option to be checked always instead of leaving up to the user to remember?

Is there another option I'm missing?
