Lot Expiration Date consideration in Fulfilment

Is there a way we can make fulfilment respect preference 08 - Grade Potency Profile - Days to Expiration?

We have a meat processing customer where we are implementing fulfilment management in conjunction with Sales Order management. While testing fulfilment we realize that fulfilment management does not respect lot expiration date and let fulfill the order even if customer is setup with 30 days in "Days to Expiration" in preference 08. Pick Slip later on put the order on backorder. This defeats the whole purpose of us implementing fulfilment management for this type of customer where lot expiration date is important and guided by customer.
