3DES and How It Relates to E1
What is 3DES?
3DES is the name of a standard algorithm for encrypting (and decrypting) data. Since 1995 the algorithm has been used by industry and government for data encryption. However, in recent years available computing power has increased to the point that 3DES is no longer considered adequate for providing strong data encryption.
Note:
- Although 3DES is now considered to be obsolete as a standard for data encryption, the algorithm itself has no logical flaws or defects.
