Onboarding - change existing template from non-fluid direct deposit to fluid direct deposit

We are currently upgrading to the latest PUM.  I have an existing onboarding template which has the classic version of direct deposit.  We are changing to the fluid version of direct deposit. 

I inserted a new effective row with effective date of today in my category and template to include the new fluid direct deposit step and removed the existing classic version.  For employees who are already have assigned onboarding template, I'm getting error below when clicking on direct deposit page. 

How can I switch to fluid direct deposit without causing problems for those employees who are already assigned current version of my template?
