Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme EWSS
The Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) is introduced as a result of new legislation passed on 1st August 2020. Effective, 1st September 2020 ,the EWSS replaces the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme. It will run from 1st September 2020 until 31st March 2021.
Employers will need to register to participate. However, whilst registration will be at the Employer PAYE reference level, not all organizations covered by that registration will be eligible, hence the subsidy is only for eligible employees.
In addition to applying the patch as detailed below, employers must ensure that the use of PRSI Class J9 is suspended for any payment dates after 31st August 2020.
