Capture WUT error

I currently have an issue with some WebUtil functionality and was hoping someone might have a solution. I am downloading a pdf file from the application server to a local client directory which is working well.

However, sometimes the user may wish to download the latest version of a file that has already been downloaded on a previous occasion. Unfortunately, if the user has the local pdf file opened in another application e.g. Acrobat reader I am encountering a WUT-105 error when they try to download the file again.

However the error is not very user friendly and I would like to be able to provide a better message.
