Query on implementing LDAPS ( LDAP over SSL)

We are in EnterpriseOne Tools Release: '9.2.3.1' and want to implement LDAPS. Would like to know if the certificate database cert8.db is supported? To generate Cert7.DB , we have to use outdated libraries which are not considered safe. Any suggestions?
