how to keep leading zero on string data convert to numeric

I have a flat file I have created in a table conversion. Part of their spec is the SSN be passed to them in a numeric field. I have converted the JDE SSN from a string to a number but anyone that SSN begins with a zero that char is dropped. Is there anyway to keep the leading zero on that number.

We are on JDE 9.2 TR 9.2.2.5 on an SQL database.
