JDE Orchestrator/RestAPI expose to third party

Hi,

I would like to know if JDE RestAPI could be exposed outside third party for processing. Like sending Item information from JDE to the outside vendor. Is third party company need VPN connection to access the JDE Webservice or it would be available without VPN connection?
