Can we update existing Elements from Recurring to Non-Recurring

Hi

We are on EBS 12.1.3 and are using the API to interface from a third party Loans system to generate entries on a monthly basis. However, most of the elements are existing Recurring elements and we cannot create entries every period. Just want to know, instead of using the Update API, if it was possible to change Element definition 'Duration for entries' from Recurring to Non-Recurring, so we can generate batches every month to cater for all scenarios.

Need to know what's the impact, if any, besides the non-automatic creation of entries for all pay periods.
