I am trying to understand usage of same legal entity for multiple ledgers. Currently we have a need to use same legal entity assigned to a different ledger in a different currency. COA and Calendar will remain same. Although oracle is not allowing me to use the existing LE it is allowing me to define the same exact LE again and use it for new ledger. In such a case why doesnot oracle allow us to use the same existing LE to assign to new ledger?

You should not be able to create two Legal Entities with the same name. Please see note:1902604.1   Does Legal Entity Prevent Creation of Legal Entities with Duplicate Names?
