Trying to Upgrade Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 JDK to Java SE 6 Update 38

Getting an error message :  Error occurred during initialization of VM java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

OS : Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga)

EBS : 12.1.2

DB : 11.2.0.1

The  error "java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object"can occur for a couple of reasons:
- The JAVA_HOME, PATH and CLASSPATH might have not been set properly.
