How can we enable Track In Installed Base without making On Hand Quantity to Zero.

How can we update item attribute - 'Track in Installed Base' when we have on hand quantity?

Is there a way to update the attribute without making the on hand quantity zero?

from the Oracle perspective the answer is No. As IB tracks the entire lifecycle of items it must track the in inventory quantities as well. If you enable the attribute while there is onhand quantity you would automatically and immediately bring IB out of synch with Inventory, which is the best way to ensure you will get IB transaction errors once you start processing material transactions for the item.
