Advanced Security Option

Hi,Can somebody provide some info on Advanced Security option with Oracle Database?   We are getting charged so I would like to utilize it.

In conjunction with the SQLNET.ora file you can use it to encrypt session traffic between a client and the instance.

My unconsious memory is telling me that a session between an 11g client and an 11g server process will automatically be encrypted but I cannot find evidence of that quickly.
