Just few notes: - Web Services is not quite bound to transportation protocol (the HTTP usually associated with the word: "Web").
Essentially the WS introduces the standard for service design (WSDL) and run-.time message format (SOAP)
Nowadays, many effective Web Service based intgerations (also with Siebel CRM) use JMS / MQ exchange SOAP
