Maintaining different sets of answer codes and answer options for an ODM field

Attributes can have both a list of answers and a list of answer codes. The answer codes are stored in the database and are language-independent. There are 2 options available for configuring attributes under Admin:

• Enable Answer Codes: Enables you to manage a set of answer codes separately from answers. You can create values for answers and answer codes, which are different.

•Disable Synchronization of CRM picklist values into Answer Options: Answer options are always duplicates of answer codes synched from CRM.

If you enable the use of answer codes, then the list of answers does not have to be the same as the list of answer codes. You can use one answer code to correspond to multiple answers. For example, in a list of job titles your list of answers can include IT Manager, Marketing Manager, and Operations Manager. In your answer codes, all three of those answers can map to the single answer code of Manager. You can decide to enable managed answer codes when each attribute is created rather than as a global setting. However, if you find that
