Cancelling old or stale task when the GUI does not respond

Remember one thing: failing over the pilot is not a universal cure for issues--nor a particularly reliable one unless the event log, existing callhome logs and alerts are checked to make sure it is a good idea, or will even work.
Sometimes a pilot failover is appropriate. Much of the time it is not. It should not be done without knowing exactly why the system is in the condition it is in.

Never fail over a pilot without strict instructions from engineering to do so. Some tasks are persisted through pilot reboots and others will cause the system to not reboot at all.Sometimes a pilot failover is appropriate. Much of the time it is not.
