Having an issue creating a bar chart when CSV file is datasource in the datamodel

Using Oracle BI Publisher 12.2.1.4.0

I am using a CSV file as a source in my DataModel. The first column in the file is a DATE in the format of m/d/yyyy (so Aug 1st, 2020 would be 8/1/2020).

In a report, if I just want to display the data in a Data Table, it seems to display fine -- properly sorting on date. However, if I try to use that date column in a Bar Chart, I get an error when I try to view the report:
