"You must define a prorate period for this prorate convention" due to old DPIS

We are using mass addition to add assets from another system. The DPIS (date placed in service) of some the assets is older than the begin date of our calendar. The system is giving the following error "You must define a prorate period for this prorate convention" when the DPIS is older than the begin date of the calendar.

How do we add these assets with very old DPIS?
