How do you do a mass inventory item delete

I know that you can create a delete group in Oracle Inventory to delete items as long as they are allowed to be delete based on the delete constraints. However, I have a very large number of items that need to be deleted and creating a delete group item by item is not reasonable. Is there an API or way to load the front end with the items that need to be deleted? Also, I am worried about performance when deleting a large number of items at one time.
