Confusion over ODABR Snapshots and patching

I completed the upgrade of one of my ODA X6-2L from 18.8 to 19.6 this weekend having previously performed the OS upgrade step a few weeks earlier.

The server OS upgrade takes its own ODABR snapshots that can be used in event of a failure. Following the OS upgrade you are advised to remove these as part of the post checks.

When doing the normal server upgrade and running the create-prepatchreport , the report also checks there are no snapshots in place.

Given this I assumed the update-server would create its own ODABR snapshot (as it did for the OS upgrade) and I didn't need to manually do this as I normally would.
