How to read a file which is having German characters through synch read file adapter?

Hi,

I am a SOA developer. And I am using 12.2.1.3 soa version to read a file, and I am using file adapter to read this file and operation is SynchRead. So far so good. But I got a file which is having German special characters like ä ö ü ß. And I tried to read with 'UTF-8' and 'windows-1252' encoding in my xsd. But no luck, if I tried to read from the client location by using ftp adapter then I am able to read German characters. Could you please help me to resolve this issue in detail?
