McAfee and EBS compatibility

We're in the process of upgrading EBS financials & manufacturing from 12.1.3 to 12.2.9. During the process we've encounter issues with McAfee End Point Protection preventing both the successful configuration of the R12.2.9 Apps Tier as well as causing problems with cloning an R12.2.9 instance (again, particularly with the Apps Tier).

Other than disabling McAfee EPP completely can anyone shed light on how to configure McAfee EPP so that it doesn't interfere with these operations? Is there a exclusion process or something that can be used to "shelter" Oracle EBS from EPP interference yet still keep the VM "protected"?

Any leading practices you could share would be GREATLY appreciated.
