Converting to a New Period Type

(Oracle EBS 12.1.3) Our company desires to switch to a new period type for 2021. We have already defined the 2021 periods using the new methodology. I was curious if there was any problems that would arise with the general ledgers if we change to a different period type. Note that we will never have dual periods open. The cutover will occur cleanly with the new year.
