Can I enable a Duplicate check for Addresses but not for Party and if so how?

I am working on enabling a match rule for address duplicate identification in R12. I have done that but it doesn't seem to work unless I enable the HZ Match rules for Party also. Do I have to enable the HZ Enable Party Search profile or is there a way to just have the Duplicate check.
