Data entry limited to barcodes via a desktop?

in Discrete Manufacturing - EBS (MOSC) Question

We have a requirement to prohibit the data entry into forms via a keyboard. We have tethered scan devices on laptops/desktops. Is there a way to force the entry in this manner only? Specifically in transactions utilizing serial numbers. We have some pretty involved ones and errors can happen either via keyboarding or using pulldowns.
