mvref@stats_sys_defaults - retention_period value

We have 12.2 Oracle DB and mvref$_stats_sys_defaults has 1 record with collection_level=1 and retention_period=365.

Question: I see in the last patch (October 2020 Quarterly Patch) it is trying to update retention_period to 31. Do we have to do that ? What would it do for a system? What does it mean and how this change can affect database ?
