Adding RAC nodes horizontally and performance factors

Does adding nodes to facilitate more processing power scale linearly or does having more number of nodes add overhead to processing .If so how to calculate the processing power based on number of nodes we have ?

We are having a 4 node RAC with 1TB of RAM on each node serviing 100TB of Data with 700GB of SGA on each instance . our data is expeced to grow till 150TB in another 6 months and we are planning to add 2 more nodes of same capacity with similar SGA . Does adding 2 more nodes to the cluster put overhead on moving blocks across 6 nodes or managing resources across 6 nodes ..what are the factors that we need to consider for increased data load on the system . We expect proportional increase in data pulled
