What is the correct configuration NTP with "-x" or "tinker step" slew option ?

Recently, I was recommended by RedHat to change the NTP slew option from "-x" to "thinker step".

Please, What isthe correct configuration NTP with "-x" or "tinker step" slew option ?


# cat /etc/redhat-release

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.9 (Santiago)

# uname -r

2.6.32-696.6.3.el6.x86_64

# Oracle Product

Oracle Database EE - 12.1.0.2 (single instance)
