Moving away from Plan Year to Calendar Year for Benefits

Our current benefit plan year is from 04/01/2020-03/31/2021. We want to shorten this year so that it ends on 12/31/2020 and transition to a 01/01/2021-12/31/2021 benefit plan year. Can anyone share best practices, tips or tricks for this change?
