How to add item configuration after creating SO through EDI?

We are trying to customize the Sales Order Entry Process for configured items. Item configurations are pulled dynamically during standard SO creation but since we may receive this information from a 3rd party system, we are looking for ways to create the SO with configurations using custom programs. As part of this, we tried creating an SO header using EDI but while trying to add configurations to the detail line, we are unable to. Getting the error "This application did not originate the transaction. Therefore, only the original application will allow committing the change in the configuration." Is there an
