solaris 11 zone license - Oracle Database

Hi,

I want to partition my T7-1 server into multiple Guest LDOMs. Each LDOM will host mutiple Databse Zone servers (non-global).

I would like to cap the cpu & memory for each zone. Is that a valid way of partitioning with regards to DB licensing.

For example - Guest LDOM - 4 CPU cores ( 4 x 8 threads) = 32vCPU

  • Further allocation dedicate-cpu capping
  • 1st zone = 4vCPU , 2nd zone= 6vCPU , 3rd zone=6vCPU i.e. Total 16 vCPU

I want to understand if I will be charged for 16vCPU which mean only 2 cores ?

Or oracle will consider each zone at separate server and will apply highwater mark of 1 core each zone. Please advice.

Howdy, Stranger!
