India GST Implementation-Different item code for Different HSN?

Hello, can you let me know if this is a common practice for the same physical product, same packaging, if a new HSN is issued by the India government (due to change of GST Rate %) , a new item code needs to be created and all the necessary configurations to link to this new HSN code for this case?
