how to uninstall custom component

We have environment 12C in Linux, it was working with OTB. deployed our first custom component since then we are getting Error 404-Not Found.

I don't see any error messages in the server log. How can we uninstall the component from back end ? can help with steps to follow.

long back i saw links that has steps something like.

delete the component folder and remove entries from .htm or .ini file and restart the server.
