what is the best way to manage trace files?

Oracle Database Appliance X7-2S running Oracle 11g (11.2.0.4.0)

The /u01 file system keeps growing at a steady pace. I grew the file system by 50Gb in order to buy time, but I need to manage the growth. I believe the problem is the .trc files (and perhaps the .trm files)

Can anyone tell me the best way to manage this? Is it ok to delete all the .trc and .trm files as some web sites suggest? Is there a good utility to take care of this automatically?
