Develop metric extensions without GUI

Dear Community,

we're planning to develop Metric Extensions for database hardening checks. We decided to use one Metric Extension for every Control.

Because there will be a few dozens of Metric Extensions we're wondering if there is an alternative method for using the GUI.

Is there a way to do this by using scripts (emctl...) or is the usage of the Metric Extensions Editor Mandatory?

We're running EM13.4 RU7
