Mandatory Date Earned?

Is there a way to make Date Earned mandatory? Or does anyone have a way they flag payroll entries with the date earned left blank? All our payroll entries are made per week and have found some date earned fields left blank therefore allocating the earnings over the entire bi-weekly period and not the correct week. We are on Oracle Payroll 12.2.9
