How to give learner credit for prior class when being auto-enrolled (AAF)

We have had the auto enroll process set up for some time now, however have recently updated the class materials. We created a new class (new act_id) and have inactivated the old class. When we updated the auto enroll to use the new class, it is enrolling learners who had already completed the old class version. Is there any way to stop the auto enroll from enrolling learners when they have completed an "equivalent" class (same course).

We are using ELM 9.2.18 and PT 8.56
