Disk array "auto tiering" suitable for Oracle RDBMS?
Hi,
I’m was not sure if I have posted my questions to the right group, please let me know if I should be posting this in a different Category.
I am looking at building up a new SAN for our Oracle Database system’s and would like a bit of feedback if anyone has used this hardware and if there are potential best practices I need to be aware for Oracle RDBMS use.
For a bit of background information, we currently use a HPE MSA 2040 disk array with 4 x 1Gb iSCSI connections per controller (the MSA has dual controllers), and a two node ESXi VMware cluster (Essentials Plus) running our RHEL 7.x VM’s that are running Oracle Standard Edition, 12.2.1 databases (DB sizes range from 300 – 900GB). We do not use ASM (We do not need the resiliency as the disk arrays have this, and it seems like adding yet another layer of software and maintenance is not really needed), just standard volumes allocated to Data, online redo, archive redo,
