Can I update dev env to 12.2.1.2 and still deploy products to 12.2.1.0 environments?

I support/develop Oracle SOA Suite products for my project, all implementations currently 12.2.1.0.0.. We have many environments in the production chain and it is intractable to upgrade all environments at once.

Can I update the dev env to 12.2.1.2 and JDK to 1.8.0_281 and still support building and deploying new composites down the chain to the older 12.2.1.0 instances?
