Can we update a wrong serial for an Advanced Exchange through Depot

Hi,
We have a scenario within our business where a incorrect Serial/Install Base Instance is declared on the Inbound/Faulty/Return Line for an Advanced Exchange. and we would like a process that would allow for the IB record and Service Contracts to be updated correctly based on the actual unit that was returned. However something that also needs to be considered is that the Service Contract of the Original Incorrect IB record has already been transferred to the Exchanged Unit during OM Shipment process. this would need to be reverted along with any IB update. Then when the Correctly Returned IB record
