Unable to change Project status

Hi. I have set up a new Template from which to generate Projects. The template has starting project status 'G - Awarded in Prep'. I have used this template to set up a Project, however I am unable to change the status to 'G - Awarded' (I have set the project up in the GL). If I try and change the status, it defaults to 'G-Pending Closed' and I cannot change it to anything else.
