supplier UDA not defaulting the information

in EBS Customizations (MOSC) Question

I created new UDA as per business the UDA is text field and no value set associated. The issue is, if we UDA field editable then able to view the default value and if we make it non-editable then not possible to view the default value.

Why the default value is not displaying if the UDA made it non-editable?
