Corrupt Spatial Index

Hello, I have a question regarding corruption of spatial index. My experiences of spatial is limited

Issue is with Oracle 12.2 on Linux. A customer claims that after an application upgrade spatial index becomes corrupt when rebuilt. There is a weekly job rebuilding spatial indexes and if I understand things correct it is then the index becomes corrupt. When manually rebuilt it works again.

I think the reason for weekly rebuild the spatial indexes was related to an issue in previous release and it has just been there since then. The comment from the customer is that bad coordinates in the table causes the index to be corrupt. I find the unlikely since it becomes valid after a manual rebuild. But since not being experienced with spatial data I would like to hear what experiences you have and what you think about it.
