How can we have secure jdbc thin driver connection with oracle 11g

Am having oracle 11g as a server and desktop application as a client, and using jdbc thin driver for connection(jdbc14).

Have refereed "wp-oracle-jdbc-thin-ssl-130128.pdf" document and done the changes as part of case# 4 but things are not achievable.

Since am new to this jdbc thin driver connection. Any suggestions along with short example from DB and JAVA prospective would be of great help.

Just to update the desktop application which is a client is currently using unsecure connection and that needs to up made secure.
