parallel_threads_per_cpu

Hello All,

We have just migrated to a new server (Linux rh) from (HP-UX 11.31 itanium) and 12c to 19c. We are still stand alone for now. We do run multiple instances on the server and have never caged them.

parallel_threads_per_cpu use to be 2 on old system, it is now 1

Our chip set is Model name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4114 CPU @ 2.20GHz

we have 2 physical cpus ( 10 cores) 20 threads= 20 cores 40 threads

my question is can/should i set the parallel_threads_per_cpu back to 2 or leave it at 1?

parallel_degree_policy MANUAL

I ask because we ran into a memory issue with the parallel. once i lowered it down to 32 the issue stopped. I raised it back to 40 after a few days and we no longer through the error
