Auto-Creation

I have a new Agreement bp that auto-creates an SOV record. The agreement is created at the end step, when the status of the record is approved. I resaved a completed Agreement, and that resulted in the auto-creation of a second SOV. I don't want to accidentally create records. I do occasionally need to edit a record after it has been approved. Suggestions?
