Meter Readings on Every Task of an MM Work Order

We do not use multiple assets on an MM work order, but yet a meter reading is required on every task of a work order; this is very redundant entry and laborious if the work order has many tasks. Has anybody found a workaround or an easier way (short of not requiring meters on work orders) to handle the same meter reading for an asset across multiple tasks?
